Katy, July 21, in Hull

Our lovely Katy is now fostered in Hull with our regular fostermum Rosemary. Katy was always a firm favourite in the shelter. She has come to Rosemary to get ready for life in a home. Her doggy foster brothers are supporting her in this. She is a bit shier now than she was in the shelter, where she was the first to say hello. That is undertandable though. Coming to a home is a big change!

Rosemary is working to help Katy get used to all sorts of new things. And Katy is doing very well. This is her latest progress report:

  • Clean in the house and toilets well on walks or in the garden
  • Walks very well on the lead, no pulling and very gentle
  • Lives with resident cat.
  • Good with resident dogs but has so far not met any other dogs off lead
  • Knows sit, doing well with wait, come, up and out (getting into and out of car boot)
  • Katy is starting a 'Socialisation and Neutrality' weekly course  17/7/24.
  • Nervous around small children. Has not met older children yet
  • Started very well in the carbut has regressed slightly as she was sick in the car when going to a secure field. Working on building this back up.
  • She has been left up to 1.5 hours with one or more resident dogs. Left alone for around 20 minutes. No issues seen.
  • Fear of traffic and of household noises which are massively improved although she does still startle at unexpected noises.
  • General lack of confidence which is improving through training, treats and lots of praise.

Katy needs a localish home where she can meet her new family over several visits to make the transition to her forever home as smooth as possible.

Some pics and the last two videos are of Katy last year when we were visiting the shelter.
